Books about Artists

We read many books about artists. We read together, Diego by Jeanette and Jonah Winter and My Name is Georgia by Jeanette Winter. Diego and Georgia are famous artists. Michaela drew a portrait of Michelle. She did a great job! Michaela will draw more portraits of her classmates.

Two Big Events

For the Team 1, 2, 3 Expo, we presented our stories that we developed and worked on for the last two months. Students reflected their performances yesterday...

Johanna: We presented our stories yesterday for the Expo. I read aloud my story, "I Love Six Flags."

Shannon: It was fun yesterday because I presented my story, "The Special Wedding Day" to Team 4 & 5 and Team 6, 7, 8 students.

LaDasha: My story, "LaDasha's 8th Birthday Party" was about my birthday party at Jeepers with my family and friends. It was fun. We ate pizzas and cupcakes with white frosting. I opened my presents. We went home.

Michaela: I was happy because I did a good job at presenting my story, "Swimming."

Julia: I like Hawaii. The flight to Hawaii was long. I got lei. That was my story called, "Julia Likes Hawaii."

Last week, we went on a field trip to the Pumpkin Patch in Virginia. Students commented about their experience.

Julia: I peeked in a peephole of a small house. I saw a monster inside the house.

Shannon: I rode on a hayride. It was slow! I saw many dummy people standing everywhere on the field. I got off the flatbed trailer and went into a haunted house.

Michaela: I painted my pumpkin when we returned to school.

LaDasha: I picked out a medium pumpkin.

Johanna: I saw many green pumpkins. I discussed with Michelle about pumpkin stems - if they are brown, they are not fresh. When stems are green, that means they are picked out recently.

What a Week!

This week Shannon, Johanna, LaDasha, Julia, and Michaela did the daily calendar and counted school days by adding a popsicle stick to a bin each day. We answered many questions in our Daily Journals. During the Writer's Workshop, we added some more answers to our own stories. We sold many chocolate chip cookies and oatmeal raisin cookies to earn money for Red Cross Hurricane Relief. We also asked many people to donate pennies (and other coins) to give to Louisana School for the Deaf. We were excited about the PBS crew taking film of our class.

Next week, we look forward to publish our stories and to practice in reading & signing aloud for the Expo!

Love,
Johanna, Shannon, Michaela, LaDasha, & Julia

What We Learned This Week

Hello!

Wow, what a week! It went fast but it was productive. We did many things this week. We wrote our own stories for Writer's Workshop. We are almost completed with revising our stories. We talked about doing the fundraising event to help people in Louisana. We need to sell cookies next week to collect money. We are excited about the blog. We will type in what we learned each week. We hope that our friends will read our blog.
