Eldest Reading Response # 3
When Eragon swore loyalty to Arjjiah's daughter, he went against the counsel. Eragon then formally made his loyalty in public, thousands was enraging incudling the counsel. Arjjiah's daughter then ordered to go to Elessmera, the elves' place to complete his training. Eragon went with Arya and Orik, a dwarf. Before the trip, Orik presented with a crest. The crest was embroidered by gold. It had a hammer and lightning on nit. Orik said that Hobtargor, the dwarf king, wanted him to wear it. If Eragon accepted, he would be buried with the dwarves. That was the highest respect that Eragon could receive so he said yes. When he said yes, he became a member of Hobtargor's clan. Arjjiah's daughter came and said that she had been wondering if he would accept the crest. When he did, the dwarves, elves and rebels of Varden had him in his service. She then gave him money and let him go to Elessmera.
