One sad outcome of the battle was that more urgals attacked after the battle. Urgals are like men, but they are short and burly with horns. Four urgals attacked the king of rebels, Arjjiah. He killed all of them but he was mortally wounded so he died soon after the battle. The king spoke to Eragon to keep his country running. Eragon was not in the Empire, Gabloriex's kingdom. Gabloriex was the evil king. Arjjiah's kingdom was the Varden, the rebel country against the Empire. Arya, a woman elf heard the old king tell Eragon to take care of the Varden. Arya was rescued by Eragon in the first book by Pauolini. Soon after Arjjiah died, the counsel of Elders summoned Eragon and Saphira to a meeting. They wanted his opinion on Ajjiah's daughter becoming the ruler. The counsel of elders left him with no choice so he had to say yes. The counsel then summoned Arjjiah's daughter and told her that she would be the queen of Varden. She accepted the responsblity of being the queen. After the counsel of elders left, Eragon swore loyalty to Arjjiah's daughter as a rider.
