Thank you so much for coming to spend this very special homecoming with us. We were honored to have you with our family celebrating Jay's return. We were on Channel 9 news last evening and taped the 5:30 and 6:00 segments they aired of us! Thanks again for all that you and your wonderful students have done with the blog. We will always treasure your friendships.
Bolling Air Force Base The festivities begin early inside the armory. Nico, Angela (Donna's sister), Donna and Tristan (Angela's son) prepare for the big moment. Other Marine families prepare too. Donna and Jay's sister, Mindy, eagerly await the arrival of the 4th CAG. The Marines have arrived! Our troops enter the armory to family cheers and fellow Marines' "Hooahs". Nico searches for Daddy. We found Jay! He's the third Marine from the left. Donna and Jay embrace for the first time in seven months. Jay's mother, Nilda, hugs and kisses her son. Jay holds Nicco for the first time since leaving for Iraq. Jay's mother in law, Nancy, calls. Tears of joy Jay hugs his sister Mindy. Jay admires Nico and Tristan's beautiful welcome home banner. MSgt. Jeffery Dyson is the officer that recruited Jay into the Marine Corps. This is Jay and Donna's pal Glen J. Perry. They met when Jay was in the Maryland National Guard . He is also a Federal police officer in Ft. Dix, New Jersey. Nico, Jay and Mindy express the family's elation that Jay made it home safely. Jade, one of the Key Volunteer's children, and Nico. All: Our Marines arrived at their immediate staging base last night at 0200 and all is well. They will probably depart that area on Wednesday and have one fuel stop enroute, to arrive home on Friday.
