Hand Art - Communicating With Sign Language

Students explored using sign language in art under the guidance of the art teacher. They used their art skills and imagination to create pictures that express themselves. Many of them also participated the National Collection of Deaf Student Art Contest sponsored by Sorenson Video Relay Services (VRS). Two of our students took first and second prize. Lily McNamara won first prize, and Franco Maddox won second prize. We are so proud of two of them and all the participants.

Student Art Class

Students at Kendall Demonstration Elementary School explored art subjects in the classroom. Under the guidance of the art teacher, students focused on using line, shape, color and movement to create artwork and express themselves.

"Spring Flower"

Warm and sweet smell.

yellow, blue, purple and green.

"Sea Turtle"

This is my first time to visit Hawaii with my family. Hawaii is warm and beautiful. We had a lot of fun there. One day, when I was swimming in the beautiful ocean, my dad and I saw two sea turtles, one was on the top of water, the other was swimming with us. They are so lovely. I enjoyed watching them very much. I drew this picture after I came back to school.

Watercolor and Computer Creation

Students at Kendall Demonstration Elementary School have explored art in the art classroom. In this art project, 6, 7, 8th grade students painted with watercolors, used the computer to recreate the paintings, and shared their own stories.

I went to see a lighthouse inside and water wave at dark night. It was scared. I like the lighthouse because there are some ugly monsters and basketball court in it. You don't beleive it? You'd better go to see it.

I love to watch shark that have long teeth and big mouth. One day a giant shark was chasing me. I was really scared and swam very hard,very fast. But the shark swam faster. He almost catched me. I was screaming and woke up. It was a dream.
